Unity & Prayer

"I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." John 17:20b-23.

I was reading this the other day when I noticed for the first time ever that Jesus says, when His people are one THEN the world will know that God has sent Jesus. The "if" "then" nature of that verse struck me. When believers unify, then the world will see Jesus. I was, and still am, very struck by this.

In that same Bible study time I ran across this video series that illustrated this very truth. It's interesting to me how God lays truths on my heart and then faithfully brings things related to that very same topic over and over. (I need MUCH repetition to learn!) Right now, He's continually showing me the power of prayer and unity. This video illustrates its power. I hope you're inspired to forgive and pray fervently after watching it. I know I was.

If my people who are called by My name, humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

  1. I'm one of your followers and I'm very happy to see you being struck by this. I can't see the video b/c I have dial up. But God's called me to help unify the Body of Christ. It's my passion and I have such love for Christians as Christ's amazing bride. It makes me so happy when we realize this vision of Christ's. This was so important to Him that he devoted his final deep prayer session to this. He came to the earth for the purpose of saving people to become part of His Church, His Bride, His Family. Saving people is wonderful, important... but not the end. Romans 5:10 says it best "For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." The first part is about salvation through the cross. But "much more" is salvation through His life, the life given to us at salvation, which is about being in the Church. The unity of the Church is His dream. The Bible talks about us being knit together and growing to full stature... This is so important to His heart, and... I could go on and on. :) Happy to see one more of my sisters gets it!
